The Logic

Summer Training Program

Summer time is for beach time, video games, hanging out with friends, family vacations, and also the making of champions. The Cross Country season is when champions are crowned. Therefore, it is important for students to understand that in order to see substantial gains in running they must take advantage of Summer time freedom. To the left is the Summer Training Program that students may follow.  Students should have attended the Pre-Season Meeting or reached out to Coach Pradel to confirm what Column they should be doing.

While 100% completion of the program is ideal, it is also not realistic. Students do have social lives. Therefore, students should try to complete a minimum of 85% of the weekly mileage to see a difference in their running during the Fall season

Summer Lift Program

The Summer lift program introduces students to basic movements that they should learn in the gym. They will understand basic concepts of sets, reps, and range of motion. Due to it being summer this lift program may take up to 30 minutes to 60 minutes to complete. Students should have more time and flexibility to get these lift sessions in.

If a student is on vacation, running or lifting should not be left out of the routine. If the student is hiking, surfing, playing soccer, cycling, etc it is acceptable to replace that activity with running. However, make sure this does not become a habit! As repeated substitution of running may impact season performance. Think of the Summer Lift Program as Extra Credit. :)
